The local IEEE branches are listed around 1,150 worldwide. The branches undertake the organization of seminars and workshops on new technologies, visits to technological and student conferences, etc. and are responsible for the orientation of new members. The local branch of the University of Patras already includes 2 societies (Engineering in Medicine and Biology, Computers), which operate independently and in collaboration with the IEEE SB, which consists of students from various departments of our University.

The IEEE Student Branch – University of Patras was founded in 2003 and is the IEEE student branch at the University of Patras. It has more than 40 active volunteers who are organizing events and activities in the fields of electrical / electronic engineering and computer science.

The important distinction “IEEE Regional Exemplary Student Branch 2020” was received for the first time after several years by the student branch of the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Patras. This award is given by the IEEE each year to the branches that show exemplary performance with their actions and organization.
